The frescoes of the Villa of the Mysteries in Pompeii are painted in a red so deep it became the city's signature, and Rosso Pompei borrows that colour for a scent. From the Luna Collection of the Italian niche house Tiziana Terenzi, it is a story told in citrus, white flowers and warm wood.

It starts like a Mediterranean grove, with pink grapefruit, Sorrento lemon and Amalfi grapes. Ambergris, tuberose, magnolia, lily of the valley and jasmine then bloom into a creamy, glowing heart. Sandalwood, red patchouli, Lebanese cedar and Neapolitan maple close it out with earthy warmth, so the fruit slowly turns to velvet wood.
